A Motivational IM Conversation about Poker Part One
Me: I want to play poker soon
John: oh you forgot how frustration feels
Me: I just want to try my luck again maybe I wont still be on my 15 month cold streak though I don’t count on it John: you play cash games though right? not tourneys
Me: I like poker online tourneys too but live in town I play cash games
John: well cash games are more math based in my opinion no level increase etc. my only advice which you’ve heard before is play the players not the cards remember who you are playing with and at what stakes adjust your game people won’t appreciate the game of chess when they are playing chutes and ladders and their K 7 causes you to hit a chute on the river
Me: yeah the game I play with
Me: you usually have to have the hand because they are all rich and will call with any pair or draw
John: haha I’m somewhat offended by that
Me: they just don’t care if they have a piece, they want you to prove you can beat them and have lots of $$ so if you cant make hands, you don’t win
John: well that’s good I suppose if you are patient
Me: I can be patient especially when I haven’t played poker in a long time
