What Does the Hermit Card Mean in the Tarot Deck?Comments Off

The tenth card in the sequence of the tarot deck is that of the Hermit. The Hermit symbolizes that point in a journey (or a life) in which the inevitable questions and unsolved mysteries about the meaning of it all begin eating away at our minds. At this point, we have finally mastered our baser instincts, pure desires, and raw emotions and we are ready to realize that the answers we seek now can only be found within ourselves.

The Hermit seeks to remind us that in order to reach his full potential, a seeker must at some point get to know himself and experience that type of knowledge that can only come from self discovery. Certain truths and revelations are only able to come to light when there is absolutely nothing from outside left to distract. The last couple of cards in the tarot sequence taught us about the miracles that come about when one is able to silence inner noise and disturbance. Now it is time to achieve the absence of outer disturbance as well and see what wonders may come of that.

The traditional tarot image of the Hermit shows us a robed figure setting forth alone on a personal journey. Some describe him as a wise man or a monk, while others simply think of him as a seeker or traveler. His only possessions are a lantern to light the way ahead and a simple wooden walking stick to help him safely navigate the barren landscape over which he travels. In some images, the light within the lantern itself is actually a star, meant to represent the Light of the World. Eventually the Hermit will return to civilization again once he has found what he’s looking for. He will also pass on the lessons he’s learned, but not directly. While the Hermit can tell other seekers how he himself found the wisdom that changed his life, it is something they must ultimately go and find for themselves in turn.

The visual image of the Hermit as a whole seeks to remind us that true enlightenment itself always comes from within. While it is one thing to listen to the teachings of others, it is only when the noise from without is silenced and left behind that the wisdom from inside one’s self can begin to emerge. Knowledge becomes true wisdom through experience and soul-searching only.

As is the case with many of the cards in the Major Arcana, the Hermit can represent an individual when he makes an appearance in a spread. This is most likely to be someone wise and worldly that the querent thinks of as a teacher or mentor of sorts. It is also likely to be someone that the querent interacts with on a one-on-one basis without the presence (or even knowledge) of his friends or family. Teachers, therapists, or even simply inspirational friends are all distinct possibilities.

Tarot Reading and Understanding Your RelationshipsComments Off

Although it is not an unfamiliar sight to witness a tarot reader drawing out cards from a deck of 78 to advice on problems ranging from relationships to career wellbeing, most people find it difficult to imagine doing the actual reading themselves. But the fact is that Tarot is now out there available for everyone to experience and learn. Although having a Tarot practitioner analyzing the symbols of the cards drawn is certainly an enchanting experience and probably “less risky,” a few of today’s Tarot lovers purchase their own decks and begin reading its cards with the help of Tarot manuals or mentors.

Starting to learn anything new is always a daunting experience and especially when one considers learning the Tarot cards can seem a bit odd; to say the least. This is probably the case because Tarot is associated with fortune-telling and future is the thing that excites human imagination the most. But Tarot, can in fact take people into a better understanding of the past and the present, assisting many to decode daily problems, and issues. Living in the information age, it is actually only logical to seek more information, on any given situation, before having to make a decision on the subject of interest. But the tremendous potential and effect Tarot relates to self-realization. That notion is probably less realized by those who wish to learn the future through Tarot, but in the end, this is where they are in fact led. Most often regarded as a method of predicting the future, Tarot is much less considered as a method used to better understand oneself. But, if you are interested in learning to read the Tarot cards, it is best if you keep in mind that you should do it primarily because it is one of the most effective methods to begin knowing thyself.

Since the Tarot cards have numerous different meanings depending on the order they are drawn and placed in relation to each other, many people quickly give up the effort of learning to read them. But experts claim that learning the meaning can be an effortless process, as well as rewarding and enjoyable. One of the simpler methods existing to learn the Tarot cards is through meditation. As practitioners reveal, you should begin by picking up a card from the pile and “studying” it for some time. You can always look up a guide for its “official” meaning, but the important thing here is to realize what the card you picked means to you. If the card suggests a positive career development, for example, it does not matter if in the Tarot manual symbolizes something entirely different. As long as it means this to you, it will always mean that when it comes up. As readers put it, “the card responds to you, not the other way around.”

Ideas for Choosing Table Linens for the WeddingComments Off

If you’re planning on getting married soon you know that you have numerous decisions to make ahead of you. There is one decision that you will have to make that may seem insignificant, but in reality, can establish the tone of your entire reception. This decision is in regards to the sort of table linens you plan to use.

Matching colored table linens to the color used in the wedding is the most popular way brides-to-be utilize them. Some choose to utilize theme printed table linens. This is an essential decision, regardless of what option you select.

One of the easiest ways to help you determine which table linens you will use is to purchase or rent table linens from an internet wholesaler. They make it simple for you to match the table linens to the color or theme of the wedding because they can supply you with sample fabric swatches of the colors and fabrics used to make the table linens. Many couples prefer to utilize these wholesalers due to the fact that the costs can be a good deal easier on the wedding budget.

A word of caution: The wholesale company you pick should provide different types of table linens. This includes tablecloths, napkins, place mats, chair covers and table skirts. This will permit you to fill all your table linen needs from the same supplier and, just as importantly, you ensure that the colors and fabrics you select for the different types of linen products will complement each other.

Don’t know where to begin when it comes to choosing a theme for your wedding and then choosing table linens to match the theme? Consider this. The print on a themed table linen might symbolize a particular hobby or interest that you enjoy as a couple. Perhaps you love Nascar, boating or hunting. Consider table linens with a design such as Racing Check, Anchors Away or Camo. A wedding should be special and an expression of you. Allow your imagination to run wild.

For a more romantic setting, use candle light in conjunction with satin table linens, lace table linens or fine table linens made from a fanciful fabric like Pintuck, Cascade or Monique. Use a sheer fabric such as Organza set over top a solid color polyester tablecloth to produce a layered look to the wedding tablecloths. Use coordinating napkins, placemats, table skirts and chair covers to complement the look. Add sparkle to the reception by using table linens made from Twinkle, Tissue Lame or Dazzle. The options are truely unlimited.

An individual’s style and taste is going to be the deciding factor when it comes to selecting the perfect table linens for your wedding reception. Your wedding reception will be one that guests recollect for years to come.

Why Switch to HDTV?Comments Off

The envelope has been pushed. In the past, we started receiving the first broadcasted images in out homes. As TVs took off, people were generally content with whatever image was beamed into their world. Then most people rejected their old sets once color TVs came onto the market. And now, in line with the introduction of other technologies, HDTV has raised the bar again. Gone are the days when you could be happy with washed-out colors and a low resolution. Now you want a clearer picture and sharper colors, and you want it all for an affordable price.

HDTV is the pinnacle of TV technology.Throw out your old set top box! HDTV provides a supreme image. Picture it this way, watching a standard TV is like viewing the world through a dirty windowpane. With HDTV, there is no window. The images on the television screen are as close to lifelike as you can get, that is, without actually getting off the couch and watching real-life images. An HDTV can accomplish this feat with its high resolution; a million pixels, often more, combine to create a brilliant picture that will wow any viewer.

You will pay more for an HDTV set. Fortunately, prices are falling every year. Five years ago, most people were priced out of the HDTV market.

But things are not always as straight forward as they seem. Owning an HDTV does not guarantee you the whole high-definition experience.First, you will need a high-definition cable or satellite box. This sends the HD channels to your television; without one, you can only watch standard programming. Second, you will need high-def channels. Your cable or satellite provider offers a line-up of HD channels, though the number of available HD channels is nowhere close the number of available standard channels. Third, you will need an HD show or movie. Not all shows broadcast on an HD station are necessarily high-definition; news programs are often broadcast in standard-definition, as are most daytime programs. If you are watching a standard-def show, you may see a black bar on either side of the screen. Also, since you are watching a standard-def show on a high-def screen, the picture will not be nearly as clear or as sharp as with an HD program. Only when you have all three elements – an HD box, channel and show – can you experience television like never before.
