poker online players love to set traps and ensnare a victim that keeps feeding more online poker chips into the pot because they are “pot committed.” A trap play entices other players into the pot with small value bets. Basically, a player who has a big hand, most likely the nuts, such as flopping a full house, is going to slow play the hand to trap. Generally, a trap only works when another player has a hand too or is on a good draw. There is a saying in poker that goes, “The best hand is only as valuable as the second best hand” because that is the player who will contribute to the pot. Often poker players holding the second best hand, perhaps the flop brought a card to make trips or two pairs, become blind to the fact that they might be up against a better hand. This is how players get trapped. Always study the board texture to ascertain what is the best hand possible, and how does your hand stand in relation to that. Analyze your opponent’s actions to understand if you are facing the better hand. When holding the second best hand possible and facing a value bet, a re-raise will get you the information you need. If called or re-raised, your second best hand is probably beat. Don’t fall victim to the trap because your strong hand is vulnerable to a better one.

Poker is a game often won through aggression. To play aggressively, you must raise sometimes. Newcomers to the game often don’t understand the right and wrong times to raise, and they will raise too often with weak cards or be too timid about raising with a strong hand.
Putting out a raise is a way to narrow the number of poker online opponents you are up against, and you have a better chance of winning with a good hand against fewer players. Say for an example you have a pocket pair, and the flop completes your hand to a set of trips. If you make a substantial raise, you might scare away those players who are trying to make a straight or flush that could beat your hand.
If you have a very strong hand, or one you know is the absolute winner, then a value bet might be your best move. A value bet is a small bet or minimum raise that you want to be called. A small bet can keep another player engaged and help build a bigger pot for you to win when you play poker online.
You can also semi-bluff with a raise from late position when the other players check ahead of you. This is a good strategy if you are drawing to complete a hand, like a straight or flush. The semi-bluff just might scare everyone away, and even if you get called, your hand might still improve to be the winner.

If you’re observing the table and you see someone frequently turning over mediocre to bad hole cards, that’s a sign that he’s playing to many hands. In this case, you actually turn out to be the good guy, because you can help him to improve his game. Try to scare them out with pre-flop raises to keep them honest and to buy yourself a few blinds. If they insist on playing with lousy hole cards, it’s just a matter of time before one of the premium pokerhands that you play will lead to a monster hand, and then you an buy a little bit more than a blind from that player.

Many of you reading this may have heard by now the news of a U.S. judge in the state of Kentucky trying to force the forfeiture of domain names of 141 online poker sites. Though non of the sites are based in Kentucky, they presumably could have customers that live in Kentucky, and since gambling is illegal in that state, the idiot judge believes this means the state can shut down these poker sites.
Not only is this an affront to online poker players everywhere, but it is based on the premise that Web sites should be familiar with the local laws in every municipality in the world, and tailor their sites according to them. This is preposterous.
In lieu of this, Sherman Bradley of the Online Casino Advisory has called for a boycott of all things Kentucky, especially Kentucky gambling.
Bradley appealed to not only gamblers, but citizens concerned about Internet censorship and the horrendous legal precedent being set in Kentucky. As the judge’s moves were made to protect horse racing and attack an industry the state has chosen not to tax, Bradley argues that the best response by the thousands of upset individuals is a boycott, hitting Kentucky in the revenue department.
Bradley especially demanded boycotts of Churchill Downs, which hosts live racing from October 26th until November 29th, TwinSpires.com, which is an online gambling site owned by Churchill Downs, and the Kentucky lottery.
I for one wholeheartedly concur and agree with this boycott.

Since there are so many that go to online casino these days, tour or travel buses are available to take players to casinos and take them back to their original destination.
